We played in the puddles yesterday, and it was awesome. The key is rain boots.

Packing my bags - Day 1

I have bags under my eyes that you could use for a trip to Europe.  They have really been bugging me lately, but every time I start looking at solutions, it involves products and serums and frankly, money.  I whined about this to Roxie on Tuesday, and she mentioned that Garnier had a new eye product for de-puffing.  Since the Anti-puff Eye Roller is in my price range, I thought I would give it a try, and I picked one up at Target last night.

Before I dove into smearing it everywhere (I mean, really, I got all kinds of puffy), I pondered how would I know if it worked.  Clearly, to use any sort of scientific method, I should only apply it to one eye and use the other as a control.  I’m skeptical, but I also don’t want to be lopsided, so that was out.  I don’t take pictures of myself if I can help it.  I decided that 18-20 years of adulthood with baggy eyes was enough of a baseline.

Day 1

The rollerball is cold, so  I can’t tell if I actually applied anything.  The directions clearly say one to two swipes, and I’ve already done two.  Should I try again?  I gingerly touch my face, and I feel there is some goop, so I call it good.  I have very sensitive skin and am allergic to everything, so this is when my eyes potentially swell shut.  They start to feel tingly, but nothing swells.  Nothing immediately shrinks either, but even the Garnier people think this takes a week or so.

Where will I get my cheese curds?

I am feeling sad that I am not going to Green Bay this weekend.  On the other hand, I will not have a wicked hangover on Saturday.  Have an awesome time Weetacon attendees!

2009 Challenges

I am not doing resolutions this year, because we all know how those go, don’t we?  I am creating a few challenges for myself though.  I think the concept of challenge is better, because you can always pick up a challenge again, where once you’ve blown a resolution, it feels like you’ve failed and you’re done.  Possibly semantics, but it works for me.

Health

  1. Eat more fruits and veggies.  We really eat pretty well, but I don’t get as many fruits and vegetables as I should.
  2. More exercise.  Who doesn’t need more, right?  Definitely those of us with a family history of type II diabetes and heart disease.
  3. Take vitamins.  I am mostly throwing this in because I have a medicine cabinet full of them.  I should at least get through the bottles I have.
  4. No McDonald’s.  Or Burger King.  Or possibly any fast food.  However, I am somewhat a realist and I have two small children, so I am going to do my best.  My motivation here is that I never like fast food as much as I think I will, and it isn’t worth the money.

Money

  1. Don’t spend so much.  Being specific will help me meet this challenge?  Fine.  No buying books I can get from the library.  No buying any makeup or clothes which are not replacements for something I currently have.

Time

  1. Less time on the Internet.  More time doing my own projects and reading.  This has always been difficult, but I recently have become fascinated with twitter and I haven’t figured out how to not read every tweet that comes my way.

Birthday

Man, birthdays.  Today is my birthday, and it has thrown me into a major funk.  It’s not about getting older; it’s about getting older without doing things better, smarter, more successfully, wiser, and generally accomplishing all my crazy dreams.  I don’t really know what those dreams are, but it’s easy to feel like I am not achieving them.  Ah well, tomorrow won’t be my birthday, and I will feel better about everything.  Until next year.
